Hallfield Eagles – Cricket report

A good first match of the season for the Eagles. The girls won the toss and elected to field first. Good bowling across the team saw 5 wickets taken throughout the opposition’s batting innings and the limiting of wides and no balls put the girls in a good position. Wickets were taken by Rayna Parekh, Angie Tzouramani, Arissa-Noor Farooq, Diah Patel and Maryam Ibrahim. During their batting innings the girls supported each other well, showed good confidence when running between the wickets and displayed the ability to hit the ball hard to score numerous boundaries – from Angie Tzouramani, Diah Patel, Aleena Nazir and Japmeh Gujral. Super play from all of the team in the field including a run out by Akshara Sunjay and accurate throwing from Sumayyah Thomas and Samantha Lam ensured that the girls secured a super 77-54 victory. A great start to the season..

U9s v Solihull

U9A Won – Solihull 15, Hallfield 104

Solihull were put into bat and got off to a flying start making 28 runs in their first 3 overs. But then debutant Henry Davis bowled a double wicket maiden (nearly got a hat-trick). The bowling was then a lot tighter with both Aarav and Rayaan picking up 3 wickets in their second overs. This left us with a total of 15 to chase. We needed a steady start and the openers played well, hitting the bad ball to the boundary and defending the good balls. In an impressive inning, we scored 104 runs without losing any wickets. A massive well done to the whole team!

U9B Won – Solihull 42, Hallfield 73

Solihull batted first and were limited to 42 runs as we bowled well, managing to take 6 wickets. In reply we got off to a great start with Pavan and Ibrahim scoring 31 off the first 3 overs without losing any wickets. The rest of the team all contibuted well to the score but did lose 5 wickets along the way. We ended the innings on 73 runs. Well done, a great start to the season!

U11s v Bromsgrove

U11A Won – Bromsgrove C team 42, Hallfield 97

On a very green pitch, the U11A team played an under strength Bromsgrove School team. Despite some wayward bowling by us, we managed to take 6 wickets which left us needing 42 runs to win. With some sensible batting, quick running between the wickets and a few big hits, we managed to accumulate 97 runs with the loss of only one wicket. Plenty to work on, but a good win for the first game of the season, well done.

U11B Won – Bromsgrove D team 82, Hallfield 171

Bromsgrove batted first and got off to a poor start as Jay took 2 wickets in the third over. They then improved and ended up with 82 runs. In response we only lost one wicket in collecting 171 runs! A great total in 20 overs – well done boys!
