It’s been a busy week for sports at Hallfield!
Matches were played against West House, Priory School, RGS Dodderhill and Norfolk House, the children all played very well and demonstrated great team spirit!
U9 hockey vs Norfolk House – 9 November 2021
Hallfield 2 – Norfolk House 0
The girls in the U9 team had a superb match against Norfolk House on Tuesday. We started with the ball and kept possession well. Humaira, Lamiya, Sahiba and Olivia were strong in defence and Zia dominated the game as centre midfield. The girls kept their space well Sahiba soon scored our first goal, followed by Olivia scoring our second before halftime. Norfolk House worked hard in the second half but they could not get past our defensive team of Avni, Aisha and Diah; their communication when running in for tackles was excellent. Our goalkeepers, Amelia and Emily, did not have a lot to do but they remained ready throughout the game, often shouting instructions and encouragement to the defence. The final score was 2-0 and Olivia was voted as Girl of the Game. I was very proud of all the girls’ performances, well done!
Seniors football vs Priory – 11 November 2021
Hallfield 4 – Priory 8
The Seniors had their second match of the year against Priory School U13s. This was a much stiffer challenge than their previous game and Priory soon took the lead with a couple of goals. In return, Hallfield had several chances but were not able to take a meaningful shot on target. Eventually, Anthony found the back of the net and with it some belief for the team. In the second half the game opened up more and Riyaan scored twice and Aaron scored our fourth, but Priory also managed to score a few more, and the end result was 8 – 4 to Priory.
U11 basketball vs West House – 11 November 2021
After school on Thursday, the U11 Basketball squad popped around the corner to West House for a game of basketball. The boys took a while to adjust to the cramped pitch, higher hoops and the intensity of the game. West House scored a couple of baskets before we managed to get on the score sheet. Some of the opponents dwarfed our players but we kept trying hard and certainly learnt a lot from the game. West House were clear winners in the end, but we did manage to score 8 points. A particular well done to Veer who was our stand-out player of the match.
U8 Hockey Festival vs Norfolk House and Dodderhill – 11 November 2021
The Year 3s enjoyed a lovely afternoon of hockey yesterday. The girls were all put into teams and played 5 hockey matches each, demonstrating how much they have learnt from their Games lessons this term. There were goals scored, super dribbling and passing skills and some fearless tackling. After all that hard work, the girls enjoyed a well-earned hot chocolate and a couple of biscuits to complete their afternoon. A big thank you to all the parents who came to cheer on their children. Well done girls, I think we have some potential hockey stars of the future!
