Happy children learn. If three words could sum up our ethos, it’s these. We care deeply about wellbeing, and every child knows they will be cared for and that their unique voice will be heard. But we know life isn’t always plain sailing, so our experienced staff are always on hand to provide expert support when things get tough.
Tutor System
Our tutor system mirrors that of top senior schools. The relationship between tutor and tutee is very special and is the key link between family and school.
The tutor’s primary role is to monitor and support the wellbeing of our children, ensuring their pastoral and academic needs are met, and is the first port of call for parents with questions or concerns. Tutors are overseen by a Head of Phase, who takes a holistic view of each child’s development over two years, ensuring strong continuity of care.
Behaviour
We want our children to behave well so they can all maximise the opportunities on offer here. Good manners and consideration for others are central to life at Hallfield. We firmly believe that it’s ok to get it wrong, but reflection is important and we encourage our children to talk openly about their mistakes. Each child is encouraged to develop their individuality and to learn that personal freedom involves responsibility to others.
PSHE and RSE
The PSHE & RSE programme is a part of the pastoral care provision at Hallfield Seniors. Pupils receive weekly lessons, where the intention is to provide a programme of education that underpins our ethos and values and supports the pastoral provision provided by our staff. Using Jigsaw PSHE, we revisit topics regularly to expand knowledge and increase understanding. In Year 7 and 8, we cover topics such as bullying, online safety, sex and relationships, first aid and drugs.
Safeguarding
Hallfield recognises that the welfare of a child is paramount and we take seriously our duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people in our care. Hallfield is committed to safeguarding and we recognise that all adults, including temporary staff, volunteers and governors, have a full and active part to play in protecting our pupils from harm. We have a Safeguarding Policy in place to: provide protection for all pupils; enable staff and volunteers to safeguard and promote the welfare of our children; promote a culture which makes Hallfield a safe place to learn.
