Hallfield School Chess – Autumn Term 2024

Birmingham and District Junior Chess League 2024/2025 – Event 1

In this event, our team competed against secondary school U13 teams, featuring players from Years 7 and 8. Our lineup—Krish, Handuo, Aarav, and Jasper—delivered an impressive performance, finishing 2nd out of 17 teams. They narrowly missed first place to King Edward’s School, whose team included several former Hallfield players. Read the full report here.

Old Hallfieldian Blitz Chess Tournament

This event is always a highlight, offering a fun and competitive atmosphere. Our top player, Krish, stood out once again, earning the title of top-scoring current pupil with an impressive 5/7 record. Along the way, he secured victories against several of our older, former chess stars. You can catch the full event here 

Birmingham and District Junior Chess League 2024/2025 – Event 2

Event 2 of the league took place at QMGS and 14 teams were in attendance. Every round is tough for our young team but once again we were on the podium finishing in 3rd place behind King Edward’s and Bishop Vesey. Well done to Krish, Handuo, Jasper and Arnav.

Birmingham Junior Open Chess Championships

Hallfield players had a strong presence at this event, with several earning medals: Krish, Arnav, Jasper, Alex, Adam K, Siddh, Shray, Zain, and Adam W.

Standout performances included Handuo, who secured 2nd place in the U11 A section, and Aarav, who dominated the U11 B section with a flawless 5/5. Anthony and Pavan shared equal first place in the U11 C section, while our rising star, Aariyan, claimed victory in the U9 D section with a perfect score.

Warwickshire Junior Chess Championships

Once again we had a great turnout at the county championships and some fantastic results. Winning medals were:

U8 bronze – Declan

U8 silver – Shray, James, Aariyan, Alex

U10 bronze – Roshan

U10 silver – Handuo

U12 bronze – Pavan

U12 silver – Aarav

County Chess Stars

Congratulations to the following players who were selected to represent Warwickshire in the November county event: Krish, Handuo, Jasper, Aarav, Arnav, Pavan, Alex, Aariyan, James, Shray, Anthony, Roshan, and Zain. What an impressive lineup—well done to all!

New County Chess Champions

A huge congratulations to two of our players who triumphed in their events to become Warwickshire Champions for the year:

Alex T – 1st place in the U8 category and Warwickshire Chess Champion
Krish G – 1st place in the U10 category and Warwickshire Chess Champion

Fantastic achievements by both players—well done!
