Celebrating 146 years!

On 21st January 2025, Hallfield School marks its 146th anniversary. For nearly a century and a half, the school has played a pivotal role in shaping the lives of young people in Edgbaston and beyond.

In 1879, Hallfield School – or as it was known then, Kingsland House School – was founded by Mr Nowers and Mr Pughe. Within a year, the name was changed to ‘Edgbaston High School for Boys’. Just 19 boys entered the school in its first term, followed by another dozen who joined in June and September.

Fast forward to 2025 and you’ll find a thriving co-educational school, that has adapted to the changing needs of society whilst still staying true to its core mission: providing an exceptional, well-rounded education that encompasses creativity, sport and leadership as well as academic success.

This year, we are delighted to celebrate our birthday with an opulent Founders Day Ball with our Parent Social Association. Current parents and Old Hallfieldians will come together to pay tribute to those who came before and paved the way for the outstanding education and opportunities enjoyed by children today at Hallfield.

Building an even better Hallfield

As we had towards our landmark 150-year anniversary in 2029, we have ambitious plans to build an even better Hallfield with Project 150.  This marks a new and exciting era: We’ll be bringing two new dedicated spaces for sport and performing arts to our campus.
