Hopefully you read about our Every Hallfield Child an Author (EHCAA) project and collaboration with children’s author James Hywel in our most recent issue of Hallfield Focus. Well here is a little update on Albert Mouse!
Hallfield children, from Foundation through to Year 8 have worked incredibly very hard on their Albert Mouse book and have produced a 10,000 word story that has now been sent to James Hywel for a final edit. James is extremely impressed with the enormous effort so far which rivals the length of his own works. After reading the story he commented:
Leading the project at Hallfield is our School Librarian, Mrs Askew who comments:
‘The final chapter of our whole school collaborative work has now come to a close! The entire draft, which has been written by almost 500 Hallfield pupils, is now in the process of being finalised for print. The heart-stopping storyline will have readers on the edge of their seats as they immerse themselves in the right royal caper that’s peppered with brave and heroic acts from our intrepid main characters – Albert Mouse and Big Tony – who have the daunting task of intercepting Mickey Mustard’s dastardly plan to scupper the nation’s eagerly awaited crowning of King Charles III!’
All the illustrations have been done by Hallfield pupils including the beautiful front cover which was created by Handuo in Year 3.
We are so excited to see this work in our own library and hope you are too! The book will be available to purchase before the summer holidays with more details being sent out to parents in the coming weeks!
