It’s been a busy but successful week for sports at Hallfield!
Matches were played against West House, Solihull School and Norfolk House with impressive results!
U9 v West House School – 2 November 2021
On Wednesday afternoon we travelled to West House School for a football fixture, the children had lots of fun and managed to get a 2-2 draw.
A Team
Hallfield 2 West House 2
After a disappointing first half where Hallfield trailed 2 – 0, the effort was resurgent in the second half and 2 goals from Hari Vijh meant that at full time the scores were level at 2 – 2. We look forward to the return game in a couple of weeks time!
B Team
Hallfield 4 West House 5
In a similar fashion to the A team, the B team let 2 quick goals in, scored by their one outstanding player. Once we had worked out that the danger player needed marking, we replied with a couple of goals ourselves. The scores ebbed and flowed with it ending up 5 – 4 to West House but could easily have been the other way round. A mention must go to Oscar for scoring directly from a corner and then a shot from the halfway line! A great effort by everyone – well done.
U11 v West House – 3 November 2021
A Team
Hallfield came up against a strong West House team who were full of confidence on their home pitch. The second half proved to be more of an even contest when we battled harder in midfield and gave less time for their Academy players to shine. Although we had several good chances to score only Kai managed to get on the score sheet but West House managed to hit the target with most of their attacks. Well tried everyone against a good team.
B Team
Hallfield 5 West House 4
The strength of the U11’s at Hallfield is their strength in depth – we have many good players, without any really superb players. That meant a strong looking B team took the field. In a highly exciting game where we took a 2 goal lead, but then relaxed and let them equalise, before us again getting into a strong lead before they came back again. In a nail-biting final few minutes, we managed to hold on to our 5 – 4 lead for an impressive win. Well done every player!
U8 v Solihull – 4 November 2021
On a cold but sunny Thursday afternoon, the Year 3 boys played football against Solihull School.
A team
Hallfield 5 Solihull 0
In the first ten minutes of the game, the sides looked even but Hallfield managed to score 2 quick goals just before half time which gave them momentum for the second half. Hallfield then controlled the game more with the midfield putting the ball into the Solihull half creating more chances to shoot. As a result, three more goals were scored – a fantastic result – well done!
B team
Hallfield 9 Solihull 1
From the start, Hallfield looked like the stronger team and we pressed the Solihull goal and were soon rewarded with our first goal. This enthused the boys even more and with greater enthusiasm and effort the boys went from strength to strength. The goals then flooded in and Hallfield were dominating the game. A big well done to everyone, but particularly to captain Preet!
C team
Hallfield 7 Solihull 1
Right from the start, Hallfield were camped in the Solihull half but we could not convert the pressure into any goals. However, just before half time, we managed to find the back of the net a couple of times. In the second half the game opened up more and Solihull ventured into our half more often which gave us more space to attack when we had the ball. This resulted in a few more goals for us. Well done to everyone who played.
D team
Hallfield 2 Solihull 3
The D team showed fighting spirit during an amazing game against Solihull. The first half was tight and Mahdi Ahmed scored a cracker of a goal to give us hope. As the second half progressed the weather got colder but the boys still showed fighting spirit. Eko Dhuga (man of the match) was immense and drove the team forwards. He scored an amazing solo goal but just when it looked like he was going to equalise the Solihull goalkeeper pulled off a great save. Unfortunately, we lost 3-2 but a lot of fun was had. Well done boys for representing the school so well.
U9 Hockey Festival – 2 November 2021
All the Year 4 girls took part in our U9 hockey festival on Tuesday. This was their first experience of a match and they all played really well, showing everything they have learnt from their hockey lessons. It was clear to see the enjoyment and skills progress from start to finish as each team had 5 matches to play. Their hot chocolate and biscuits at the end were well deserved and much appreciated. I am looking forward to seeing how their hockey progressing in their upcoming matches this term. Well done girls!
U11C vs Norfolk House A – 3 November 2021
Hallfield 0 Norfolk House 2
The U11C played Norfolk House A-Team on Wednesday. Norfolk House started with the ball and was on the attack immediately, taking our defence by surprise and scoring immediately. After that, the girls worked wonderfully together with Layla, Sarah, Mia and Kara on the attack, taking the ball down and Shania doing an excellent job in midfield, preventing any turnover of possession from the opposition. Amrit, Anushka and Aavoiya soon found their confidence in defence and tackled any opposition attack approaching our goal. Norfolk House made another few shots which Mahek successfully kept out of the goal. In the second half, Norfolk House again came on the immediate attack and scored another goal. Hallfield then dominated the possession with both Sarah and Kara having a few shots at goal which their keeper managed to keep out. The final score was 2-0 to Norfolk House however I was very pleased with the girls’ resilience and determination throughout. Well done!
