Safeguarding and welfare are central to life at Hallfield. The wellbeing of each and every pupil is of the utmost importance and, of course, children that feel safe and happy learn best.
In this day and age, these areas cannot be passive, we need to be there to catch those who need support when they need it. Hallfield actively embeds them into the fabric of school life giving ways and means for pupils to understand and promote their own wellbeing and that of others. This happens through the formal curriculum, with comprehensive and engaging Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE) and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) programmes. It also happens through the ‘hidden curriculum’, in the Children’s Charter and CORE values that underpin the school community, promoting the care and respect we hold as key expectations of all Hallfieldians.
Our children are growing up in a hugely complex world, often exposed to many more influences beyond the immediate control of those who care most for them. Hallfield provides a wide ‘circle of support’ around each pupil to help guide and support them through life’s challenges: the form teacher, the Head of Phase, the wellbeing and mental health mentor, the medical officer, the Deputy and Assistant Heads, the wider staff. We also promote strong partnership with parents, not least through our partner ‘Tooled Up Education’.
