U9A v Priory                      

Drew 4 – 4

An excellent encounter between two fast-paced teams. Maxwell Cullen stood out at the back and organised the defence throughout the game, Rayaan made some vital saves and Dylan made some vital tackles. In midfield Arjan, Aarav and Cai worked backwards and forwards and were the engine of the team. At half time we were winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Aarav and Arjan. The Priory came back strong and scored 4 goals in the second half. A second goal from Aarav and an amazing equaliser by Maxwell meant we came away with a deserved draw. Well done to all.

U9C v Priory

Won 4 – 0

Hallfield’s U9C played against Priory’s B team and we were soon attacking the opposition’s goal. Each player did their bit and applied pressure to win the ball and to send it up the pitch. Eventually the pressure paid off and we scored the opening goal. With increased energy and confidence, Hallfield became stronger and finished off scoring four goals to nil. Well done to everyone who played enthusiastically and we all enjoyed the afternoon.

The U11A Squad travelled to the luscious grounds of Shrewsbury School to take part in their annual 7-a-side Football Tournament.

The boys were thrown into their first game having just got off the bus and it took them a while to get used to the big pitches and big goals. Despite conceding 4 goals Max scored a fine goal. The second match was against Ryleys, who are a very strong team and the score was another 4 – 1 loss. Then, in the third game against Packwood House, they started to play some better football and scored the only goal before hanging on to victory. This meant that they went through to the Shield Competition and in the quarter finals were drawn against Old Hall. This was a nail biting game.

Aashrith and Hari both scored but Old Hall also scored 2. Josh, in goal, made some fine saves but it was Zain who took the glory as he managed to find the back of the net for the winner. In the semi-final Repton school were made to look sluggish by some electric pace, particularly from Hari, who managed a hat-trick in the 4 – 1 win. This lead to the Shield Final against Packwood House. The teams were again well matched and it was the wonderful slight-of-foot by Aashrith who weaved his way around a few defenders before popping the ball in the back of the net.

A fantastic day was had by all, where the whole squad, after their slow start, grew in confidence and ended up playing some great football. The Shield was presented to Ashrith in the canteen and all the squad won a Shrewsbury t-shirt.
