Sports Roundup – Friday 19 November

At Hallfield we’ve had another busy week for sport! With a girls’ football tournament on Monday, hockey against Kings Hawford, and away games at Wolverhampton Grammar School and Solihull School, all children put on a super performance!

Y5 Girls’ Football Tournament – 15 November 2021

A fantastic afternoon was had by all the Year 5 girls in our football tournament on Monday. We had 5 local schools – St Michael’s, Chad Vale, Welsh House Farm, Woodhouse, and Oasis Woodview – come and visit us for a fun and competitive filled afternoon of football. Our girls have only had a couple of football lessons and learnt a lot very quickly throughout the 6 matches they played. We were very proud of how quickly they adapted their skills and grew in confidence.

The final results were:

7th – Hallfield B

6th – Chad Vale

= 4th – Welsh House Farm and Oasis Woodview

3rd – Hallfield A

2nd – Woodhouse

1st – St Michael’s

Hallfield A team were very unlucky to finish in 3rd place as they were equal on points with Woodhouse but were separated on goal difference. We were very pleased with all the girls’ attitudes and performance throughout the afternoon; great work girls!

U9 A & B Boys’ Football V Wolverhampton – 16 November 2021

Hallfield 5 – Wolverhampton 2

On Tuesday the Year 4s had a football fixture against Wolverhampton Grammar School. In a tightly fought game Hallfield A team came out top with a fine hat-trick from Hari Vijh. Kris Pattni impressed in defence alongside Ansh Praveen. Marcus Ngai had his best appearance in goal making vital saves. Ibraheem Abbas and Rocco Aulakh were everywhere in midfield. Jai Vijh also chipped in with a goal. Subs Dhyan Jhohal, Hamza Saini and Oscar Choudry all played their part with Dhyan scoring the fifth goal. Well done with a 5-2 win. 

U11 A and B v Wolverhampton (away) – 17 November 2021

Hallfield 5 – Wolverhampton 6

The A team got off to a flying start with the team playing some fluid football and managing to go into the halftime break with a 4 – 2 lead. In the second half, the Wolverhampton stronger players started to dominate and the score tipped into their favour; 6 – 5 with minutes to spare. Despite having a good chance we did not manage to equalise but everyone played well and it was an exciting game.

Hallfield 3 – Wolverhampton 4

The B team also started well and had numerous shots but they only managed to find their goalkeeper! Wolverhampton took the lead from a breakout against the run of play, but we equalised straight after. After one of their shots took a deflection and found the back of our net, Wolverhampton became more confident. In the last few minutes we were trailing 4 – 3 but, like the A team, could not get the equalising goal despite a few good chances. 

Vixens Hockey V King’s Hawford – 17 November 2021

Hallfield 0 – Hawford 3

This was an excellent match between two good sides. The play went from end to end with both teams having opportunities to score. Towards the end of the first half, King’s Hawford scored to go in at halftime 1-0 up. The Hallfield girls showed great resilience in the second half, they moved the ball well and displayed good link-up play between attack and defence. There was one excellent chance to level the scores but the King’s Hawford keeper made a great save. As the game neared its conclusion King’s Hawford managed to score two more goals to run out 3-0 winners. Despite this, the Hallfield players never gave up working and were a credit to themselves and the school.

Hallfield 2 – Hawford 0

The U11B had an exciting match against King’s Hawford on Wednesday. Whilst the opposition started with the ball, Hallfield was quick to regain possession. Throughout the first 10 minutes, the game was fairly even however, that didn’t stop the defence duo Eesha and Annie to overturn multiple plays performed by King’s Hawford. Through this perseverance, Hallfield managed to gain a sneaky breakthrough and score the first goal of the game brilliantly executed by Anisa. Following this, the B team were quick to regain possession of the ball after a King’s Hawford push back and proceeded to push forwards into the attacking half. With brilliant running and ball placement from Hafsa, she was able to utilise both Sarah and Kara on the wings who were superb with their skills and spatial awareness. Coming up to the last minute before halftime, Hallfield had a fantastic overturn and were able to expertly pass the ball down the pitch towards goal where our Centre Forward Anisa, who performed some great running into space, received the ball and was quick to score another goal for Hallfield allowing the match to finish at halftime with a score of 2-0.

Throughout the second half, Ria, who was playing in goal, performed some superb saves on multiple occasions and we were able to watch her confidence and skills blossom as the match went on. The game continued on with possession of the ball being fairly even throughout the second half. Within the first 7 minutes of the second half, Asha performed a brilliant strong tackle which led to the ball being projected into the attacking D and intricately placed into the goal again by Anisa. Within a few minutes from the last goal, Hallfield had scored yet another goal! However, with only 2 minutes of the second half remaining King’s Hawford had a sneaky breakthrough and scored a last minuted goal. This brought the final score to 4-1 Hallfield. The level of hockey performed was exceptional. Brilliant game girls! Congratulations to Anisa who was voted player of the match by King’s Hawford.

U8s vs Solihull – 18 November 2021

Yesterday, Year 3 girls participated in their first away hockey fixture at Solihull. All the girls were put into teams and enjoyed 3 matches each against Solihull’s teams. There was a lot of lovely gameplay where the children could demonstrate their skills from lessons. I was impressed by the girl’s determination in tackling and confidence to dribble with the ball. There were lots of goals scored by both sides! Well done girls, you are ready for playing with the Year 4s in the house matches in 2 weeks!
