On Friday 9 November, our seniors embarked on an exciting overnight adventure on Hallfield’s grounds. With their bags packed and spirits high, they settled in after lunch and got stuck into pitching their tents – with little to no help from their teachers! It was a hands-on experience that brought out their independence and teamwork as they set up their home away from home under the open sky.
As evening descended and the sky began to darken, the Seniors gathered on the school’s field to light a magnificent campfire. Their evening was made even more memorable by the arrival of a special guest: Mr and Mrs Wright’s dog – Bruce, who became the camp’s honorary mascot, delighting pupils with playful company around the fire.
Then came the highlight of the night: dinner! The pupils headed back to the school’s Food Technology facilities, where they whipped up their very own pizzas. Each child crafted their personalised creation, topped with their favourite ingredients, and baked to perfection. The delicious aroma filled the room, and everyone enjoyed the fruits of their culinary efforts together.
Once the pizzas had been devoured and the kitchen tidied, it was back to the field for a classic campfire treat—roasted marshmallows! Amidst the crackling fire and under the sky – now full of fireworks from the neighbourhood! Seniors even shared a few stories, adding a touch of fun to the night.
After a restful night of sleep in the heart of Edgbaston’s nature, the seniors awoke bright and early, energised by their night under the stars. After a hearty breakfast, they packed up their tents, ensuring everything was ready for next year’s campers.
A huge well done to all the Seniors who braved the outdoors on Halfield’s grounds! And a special thanks to Mr & Mrs Wright and Mrs Raffermati for joining in and making this camp-out an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. This is a night our pupils won’t soon forget—full of laughter, camaraderie, and memories made to last a lifetime.
